Miscellaneous Scarves

Knit a swatch, then adjust the number of stitches you cast on based on your kneedle size and the yarn. Use your imagination in using the two colors (stripes, alternating stitches, or borders).


SKILL LEVEL: Easy

SIZE: One Size

SCARF

Cast on 19 sts.

Row 1: K3, *p1, k3; rep from * to end of row.

Row 2: K1, *p1, k3; rep from * across to last 2 sts, p1, k1.

Rep Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures about 56 in. (142 cm).

Bind off.

HAT

Cast on 55 sts.

Rep Rows 1 and 2 of Scarf until piece measures about 11 in. (28 cm).

Last Row: *K 2 sts together; rep from * across.

Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread tail through remaining sts and pull to gather. Knot securely, then use tail to

seam Hat.

FINISHING

Following package directions, make a pom-pom. Tie pom-pom to top of Hat.

Weave in ends.

 

 

Easy also means Quick

SKILL LEVEL: Easy

SIZE: One Size

SCARF

With A, cast on 38 sts.

Rows 1-6: With A, knit.

Rows 7 and 8: With B, knit.

Rep Rows 1-8 until Scarf measures 72 in. from beg, ending with a Row 6.

Bind off.

HAT

With A, cast on 88.

Rows 1-6: With A, knit.

Rows 7 and 8: With B, knit. Rep Rows 1-8 until Hat measures about 11 1/2 in. (29 cm) from beg, end with a Row 6. Do not bind off. Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Using a large-eyed blunt needle, thread tail through each st and remove from needle. Pull tightly together for top of Hat and use tail to sew side seam.

FINISHING

Weave in ends.

 

 

Just a basic scarf

 

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner

SIZE: One Size

SCARF

Cast on 24 stitches.

Work in Garter stitch (knit every row) until piece measures about 60 in. from cast-on edge. Bind off.

FINISHING

Thread yarn tails into blunt needle, then weave into Scarf.

 

 

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate

SIZE: One Size About 8 x 70 in. (20.5 x 178 cm)

MATERIALS

Lion Brand Knitting Needles - Size 7 GAUGE: EXACT GAUGE IS NOT ESSENTIAL FOR THIS PROJECT.

STITCH EXPLANATION:

Sl 1 (3) wyib (f) Slip next 1 (3) sts from left needle to right, keeping yarn in front or in back of the slipped st(s) as

specified.

Two-Color Tango (multiple 4 + 1)

Set up Row: With A, purl.

Row 1 (RS): With B, k1, *sl 1 wyib, sl 1 wyif, sl 1 wyib, k1, rep from * across.

Row 2: With B, p1, *sl 3 wyib, p1, rep from * across.

Row 3: With A, knit.

Row 4: With A, purl.

Row 5: With B, k1, *sl 1 wyib, insert needle from front under long B strand of Row 2 and k next st, sl 1 wyib, k1, rep from * across.

Row 6: With B, K1, *sl 1 wyif, p1, sl 1 wyif, k1, rep from * across.

Rows 7 and 8: Rep Rows 3 and 4.

Row 9: With B, K1, *sl 1 wyib, k1, rep from * across.

Row 10: Rep Row 6.

Row 11: With B, K1, *sl 1 wyif, k1, rep from * across.

Row 12: With B, P1, *sl 1,wyif, p1, rep from * across.

Rows 13 and 14: Rep Rows 3 and 4.

Row 15: With B, K1, *sl 1 wyif, k1, rep from * across.

Row 16: With B, purl.

Rows 17 and 18: Rep Rows 3 and 4.

Rep Rows 1-18 for Two-Color Tango Pattern.

Seed Stitch (worked over odd number of sts)

Row 1: K1, *p1, k1, rep from * across.

Rep row 1 for Seed St.

SCARF

With A, cast on 37 sts.

Work Set up row, then rep Rows 1-18 of Two-Color Tango pattern until piece measures about 15 in. (38 cm) from beg, end with a Row

4, 8, 14, 16, or 18.

With A, work in Seed st until piece measures about 29 in. (73.5 cm) from beg.

Change to B, and continue in Seed st until piece measures about 41 in. (104 cm) from beg.

Change to A, and work in Seed st until piece measures about 55 in. (140 cm) from beg.

Beg with Set up row, work in Two-Color Tango pattern until piece measures about 70 in. (178 cm) from beg, end with a Row 4, 8, 14,

16, or 18. Bind off.

FINISHING

Weave in ends.
