At the January meeting,
the group decided a good first project is to knit preemie hats for the rest of the year for a local hospital or two. The recipient
hospitals will be chosen by vote in November or December & a guild volunteer or two will make the delivery.
Summer Challenge Something New! Our September guest speakers have a website raising funds for the American Cancer
Society by soliciting knitted miniature hats and sweaters for garlands to sell. You can check out their webpage by clicking
on the link below or click on the other link to download patterns for the hats and sweaters. The Challenge: Knit one item
to donate at our September meeting. Thanks!
The Usual: Knit three preemie hats OR one helmet liner to
turn in at the August meeting on the 17th. Members are encouraged
to knit for any charity of their choice. The guild encourages community involvement. Please share your experiences at the
meeting Show N Tell. Knit On! Here are some other charities to spark your interests:

Reasons to Get Involved - It feels good. The satisfaction and pride that come from
helping others are important reasons to work on a project. When you commit your time and effort to an organization or cause
you feel strongly about, the feeling of fulfillment can be endless.
- It strengthens your community. When a community is doing well as a whole, its individuals
are better off, too.
- One person can make a difference.
You can experience a wonderful, empowering feeling that you are important enough to have a positive impact on someone else’s
life.
